Employability Skills Entry Level
This course is specially designed for learners who may
not be quite ready for full-time vocational study and would
bene昀椀t from attending a nurtured group to support their
personal skills and social development onto a mainstream
course. The course includes working on communication
skills, being part of a team and planning for progression
as well as attending vocational taster sessions and
further enrichment activities. This may include working
with a local charity to raise money or creating their very
own enterprise fund. They will start to transition into
mainstream programmes and progression will be to either
Level 1 or a full-time vocational course. There are no formal
quali昀椀cations needed for this course.
Employment Skills Level 1
A quali昀椀cation designed primarily for pre-16 to 19+ learners
who wish to achieve a Level 1 quali昀椀cation in preparation
for future study. The course will help learners to maximise
opportunities to progress into vocational areas with a range
of taster sessions, for example in catering, motor vehicle,
art or sport. The core elements of the course also boost
learners’ communication skills, team building, planning and
organisation as well as a local work placement. Working
with employers in the community learners also improve
their wider skills through enrichment activities including
educational trips, working with charities, visits from guest
speakers and their own enterprise activities. Progression
from this course leads to a vocational course of the learners’
choice; often those that they have enjoyed and excelled in
throughout the academic year.
