Engineering
Delivered at South West Durham Training, courses focus on mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering. Hands-on
learning meets industry needs with strong employer partnerships.
Level 2 and 3 Fabrication and
Welding
At Level 2 learners develop core welding and fabrication
skills using MIG and TIG techniques, working from technical
drawings. They are introduced to CAD and CNC, gaining
essential experience for modern engineering roles. Building
on Level 2, our Level 3 course enhances skills in CAD, CNC
programming, and engineering design. Learners produce
2D/3D drawings, operate CNC machinery, and study Quality
Control, Maintenance, and Communication. The course
prepares learners for advanced study, apprenticeships, or
employment in the welding industry.

Level 2 and 3 Engineering
Maintenance
On our Level 2 Engineering Maintenance course
Learners are introduced to Electrical Installation and
Mechanical Maintenance. They gain hands-on experience
wiring basic electrical systems and using hand tools to
manufacture and maintain mechanical components. The
course builds both practical and theoretical knowledge,
preparing learners for further study or apprenticeships.
Progressing from Level 2, our Level 3 course deepens
knowledge in maintaining mechanical and electrical
systems. Learners study mechanical systems, 昀氀uid
power, electrical installation, maintenance principles, and
engineering communication. The programme combines
technical theory with practical skills, preparing learners for
advanced roles or further study in engineering.
