Painting and Decorating Level 2
An introductory course to painting and decorating
skills, designed for learners who may have no formal
quali昀椀cations or require further support in the
classroom without having to sit formal exams. This
course comprises of several theory elements as well as
having the opportunity to work on practical handskills.
Painting and Decorating Level 1
Does your interest lie in developing specialist skills in
painting and decorating? Then this is the course for you.
Learners who want to go into the trade will develop basic
techniques and hand skills used within industry, as well
as underpinning knowledge to support health and safety
and general principles within the construction industry.
You will learn how to prepare surfaces for decorating,
apply paint using a brush or roller, and how to paste and
hang paper. You will also learn about the materials and
tools required to produce a professional 昀椀nish. Course
enrichment includes working with local employers and
site visits. Progression from this course could lead to the
Level 2 full time programme or an apprenticeship.

This quali昀椀cation will support you in pursuing a career
as a painter and decorator. The curriculum is matched
to industry standards, with links to local employers
and work placement opportunities.
You will gain
con昀椀dence in undertaking decorating projects which
includes preparation to domestic and commercial work
areas, protecting the surroundings as well as complex
tasks creating and applying colour and paint systems
using both brush and roller. Learners can enrich their
skills development, work towards their CSCS card, hear
industry insight from guest speakers and attend site
visits. Progression from this course could lead to an
apprenticeship.
