Over a 10 month period, this programme will prepare you to develop a deep
understanding of how children learn and equip you with the knowledge and skills
to become a confident and successful Primary School Teacher. This 5 to 11 pathway
focuses on developing your knowledge of teaching Key Stages 1 and 2. You'll be
awarded 60 master's credits and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on successful
completion of the three core modules of this programme.
You'll develop your own teacher identity and teaching style through the critically
reflective learning approach covered in this programme, empowering you to
deliver innovative lessons with confidence. Intensive training and practice
opportunities throughout your studies focus on areas identified as educational
priorities, including behaviour management, SEND, systematic synthetic phonics
(SSP) and early reading. This enables a richness and scope that allows you to be
immersed in the school experience.
You'll gain extensive training in schools across the 5 to 11 age range for which you
are training to teach. You’ll complete two teaching placements in two different
schools, supported by your school mentor and university tutors. In addition, this
programme will support you in your school placements, covering areas such as:
Planning and preparation, Promoting inclusive practice, Developing thinking skills
