Programme Overview
This programme provides a broad introduction to the specialist area of
cyber security. Recognised by employers and HE providers, it equips
students with essential technical knowledge and skills needed to
understand how organisations design, manage and protect systems,
networks and data within an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape.
With teaching rooted in practical, real-world application, students explore
cyber security principles, threats, vulnerabilities and protective measures
through realistic scenarios and simulated environments. You will study
units such as Professional Practice, Security, Cyber Security, and
Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from IT or related
subjects achieved through A-Levels, Level 3 Diplomas or Certificates,
or an Access to HE qualification. Equivalent international qualifications
will also be considered. Applicants should also have GCSE Maths and
English at Grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills). Applications
from mature students with relevant life or employment experience ideally
from a digital or technical role will also be considered on an individual
basis.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
On successful completion students may progress into employed roles
such as Junior Cyber Security Analyst, IT Support Technician with a
security focus, Network or Systems Support Technician or Digital Risk or
Compliance Officer. Many students choose to continue their studies for a
further year, by progressing onto our Level 5 HND in Cyber Security, with
opportunities to progress further after that to a Level 6 top-up degree in
Computing or Cyber Security at one of our local universities.
