Programme Overview
This programme explores the principles of education from 0-19,
learning theory, child and adolescent development, inclusive practice,
safeguarding, and the wider policy landscape. It combines theory with
practice, via a programme long placement (for those not currently not
currently working in the sector) alongside academic study, preparing you
for roles supporting learning across a range of educational settings. You’ll
develop critical understanding of education from theoretical, international
and contemporary perspectives, including the impact of globalisation
and technology. This full time programme is taught across two evenings
per week, making it highly accessible for those with employment or other
commitments during the day.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from A Levels,
Level 3 Diplomas, a combination of Level 3 Certificates, or an Access to
HE Diploma. Equivalent international qualifications are also considered
on a case by case basis. Applicants must also have GCSE English and
Maths at grade 4/C or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills in literacy and
numeracy. Mature students with relevant life or employment experience
will also be considered. Experience working with children or young people
is advantageous.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
Many graduates continue to study with us for one further year, by
progressing onto our BA (Hons) Education Studies Top-Up then onto
primary teaching routes, SEND specialisms, or other education-related
professional qualifications. Graduates may also progress into roles
such as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Early Years
Practitioner, Pastoral Support Worker, Education Administrator, Behaviour
Support Worker or Assistant Nursery Manager positions.
