Higher National Diploma
Programme Overview
This programme combines Sport and Business units with competitive
gaming. You’ll develop research and transferable skills while gaining
real-world insights into this dynamic sector. You’ll compete weekly in the
National Student Esports Championships, with opportunities to play in
LAN events across games such as Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket
League, F1 25 supported by F1-style racing simulators in partnership
with Williams F1, and many more. This full time programme is taught
across 2 days per week, allowing students to fit their studies around
other commitments. You’ll also benefit from guest lectures by industry
professionals and trips to major gaming festivals, helping you build
knowledge, experience and connections for future careers. You will
gain practical experience using industry-standard Esports facilities and
technologies.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from A-Levels,
Level 3 Diplomas or Certificates, or an Access to HE qualification;
equivalent international qualifications will also be considered. Applicants
should also have GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or
Level 2 Functional Skills). Applications from mature students with relevant
life or employment experience will also be considered individually.
Digital media experience or an esports-related portfolio is helpful but not
essential.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
This programme opens the door to the fast-growing global Esports
industry. Career routes include Esports Coach, Shoutcaster/Presenter,
Event Manager, Content Creator, Digital Marketer, Community Manager,
or Production Assistant. Graduates may also progress to external BA
(Hons) Esports Top-Up degrees, business/marketing degrees, or digital
media specialisms.
