Foundation Degree
Programme Overview
This programme explores a broad understanding of healthcare practice
across the following areas: clinical/practical and scientific skills, the
social, cultural and political factors affecting health, and professional
development including reflective practice. It combines theory with practice
via a critical understanding of healthcare from scientific, practical,
theoretical and social perspectives, engaging with contemporary debates
such as national health crises, social inequalities and community health
needs. This full time programme is taught across one full day of back-toback lectures, making it highly accessible for those with work and other
commitments.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from A Levels,
Level 3 Diplomas, a combination of Level 3 Certificates, or an Access to
HE Diploma. Equivalent international qualifications are also considered
on a case by case basis. Applicants should also have GCSE Maths
and English at Grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills).
Mature students with relevant life or employment experience will also
be considered. Experience working in the health or care sectors is
advantageous.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
Graduates progress into roles including careers as Senior Healthcare
Support Worker, Assistant Practitioner, Care Coordinator, Mental Health
Support Worker, or Public Health Assistant. Many students also continue
to study with us for one further year, by progressing onto our BSc (Hons)
Healthcare Studies Top-Up, as well as nursing degrees, allied health
training, or social care qualifications.
