BA (Hons) 3 Year Degree
Programme Overview
This programme explores a broad range of theory, practice, and personal
development within the field of integrative counselling. You will engage
with key therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural and
humanistic perspectives, alongside the philosophical foundations of
integrative practice. Ethical and professional issues, self-awareness,
and skills development form a core part of your journey, supported
by opportunities to examine contemporary issues, advancements in
counselling, and the role of supervision. You will also undertake research,
deepen your reflective practice, explore the evolution of counselling, and
enhance your therapeutic skills as you progress through the programme.
You will undertake a mandatory 100-hour therapeutic placement; a
mandatory requirement of any qualifying counselling degree.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills or
equivalent, they should also ideally hold GCSE English & maths at grade
4/C or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy.
Applicants will be considered for latter stages of the programme (eg. direct
entry onto Year 2 or Year 3 of the programme) where they can evidence
prior university-level study in this discipline which includes a minimum
number of placement hours for the stage if entry of their application,
for example a Certificate/Diploma of Higher Education or a Foundation
Degree in Counselling.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
Graduates may progress onto our MA Psychotherapy Studies postgraduate programme. Alternatively, graduates may progress into roles
such as Professional Counsellors, roles in various therapeutic settings,
education, charities, community organisations, private practice.
