Higher National Diploma
Programme Overview
This programme develops practical musicianship, composition,
performance, recording and production skills, enabling you to grow as
a versatile and confident creative practitioner. You will study key areas
such as Music Technology, Musical Performance, Composition, Sound
Production and the Music Industry, supported by access to professional
studios and dedicated performance spaces. Teaching blends lectures,
ensemble work, live events, and masterclasses delivered by industry
professionals. Assessment includes a mix of written assignments,
recorded work, live performances and collaborative projects, helping you
build a strong and industry-ready portfolio.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from A Levels,
Level 3 Diplomas, a combination of Level 3 Certificates, or an Access
to HE Diploma, plus a portfolio and/or the ability to pass an audition.
Mature students with relevant life or employment experience will also be
considered. Equivalent international qualifications are considered on a
case by case basis.
What Can I Do When I Finish?
Career options include Performer, Composer, Producer, Sound Engineer,
Music Teacher/Tutor, Live Events Technician, or Music Promoter. You
may also progress to BA (Hons) Music or Music Production Top Up
programmes.
