alongside a large modern retail park. The retail
park includes a variety of high-street stores,
popular dining options, a gym, and a cinema, and
is currently expanding to provide further facilities.

The town is home to a number of cultural and
historic attractions, including Auckland Palace,
the Spanish Gallery, and the Weardale Railway.
These sites contribute to Bishop Auckland’s
cultural identity and provide opportunities to
engage with local history and the arts.

The town is home to Kynren, a large-scale live
outdoor production that brings 2,000 years of
English history to life, alongside a range of annual
events including the Bishop Auckland Food
Festival and Aglow. Bishop Auckland Football
Club also plays an active role in the town’s
sporting and community life.

Transport & Travel Links
Bishop Auckland benefits from excellent transport
connections, including a new bus station currently
under development. The town has a railway
station with direct links to the East Coast Main
Line via Darlington, and is approximately a
15-minute drive from the A1 motorway.
